PREVIEW OF THE 2004 SEASON

DITCHLING C.C. 2004 SEASON

Outside of the usual league and weekend matches there are several other fixtures this season that should be noted - some long established and others this season's invention - all of which promise to surprise and entertain.

June 6th - Fitzhead C.C.  2.30 start

Having successfully toured Somerset for some 14 years we now have a perfect opportunity to repay some of the marvellous hospitality given to us by Fitzhead C.C. This Sunday fixture will not only provide a feast of cricket but also an evening of entertainment.

July 29th - Kongonis 11.30 start

A long established and immensely enjoyable mid week fixture against the Kenya Kongonis. A perfect warm up for cricket week to get used to the rigours of the all day game against most genial opposition.

Aug 9th - 13th Cricket week all 11.30 starts

As always we look forward to yet another successful cricket week. This season our fixtures are as follows:-

Chipstead & Coulsdon Stoics ;  Cryptics ;  Brighton Brunswick ;  Presidents XI

The support this event continues to attract every year is outstanding - try and put a note in your diary early on so as not to miss out. The customary merriments will take place on the Friday after the last match.

August 29th - Richard Heath Memorial Double wicket - 10.30 start

After it's renewed success of last year with the Atkinson duo walking off with the trophy the double wicket will again take place on the bank holiday Sunday. With considerable financial rewards available it usually attracts a large interest so book in early.

August 30th - " The Bull Invitation Trophy "  13.30 start

The inaugural " Bull Invitation Trophy " to be contested on August Bank Holiday Monday between a Ditchling X1 and an Invitation X1 of ex county/international cricketers together with other well-known sporstmen and celebrities. This is hopefully the first of an annually contested match bringing a bit of extra " pizzazz " to the club.

It is designed to be very much a village day for players, their families and friends and should attract plenty of local support. Additional festivities will take place during and after the match.

September 11th -Brighton Hove & District 6 a side 10.30 start

This end of season tournament takes place at Patcham and is a round robin event. Given our success in the only other 6-a-side tournament we entered this should hopefully prove to be just as much fun - a great way to finish the season.

Evening knock-out trophy

We have entered an evening knock out 20 over tournament, which will take place during the course of the season on days to be mutually agreed. Further details available early Season.
