DITCHLING CRICKET CLUB RULES
2005

Rules


1 The Club shall be called The Ditchling Cricket Club and the colours shall be green background with a crest consisting of a windmill in yellow.
2 The objects of the Club shall be to encourage cricket in Ditchling and to provide facilities for the members to play cricket.
3 The game shall be played according to "The Laws of Cricket" published by the Marylebone Cricket Club.
4 The Club shall consist of the President, Vice-Presidents, Chairman, Captains, Vice-Captains, Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer, Honorary Fixture Secretary and
other members.
5a The Club shall be managed by a Committee consisting of the Officers (President; Chairman; Captains with their Vice-Captains as their alternate member; Hon. Secretary; Hon. Treasurer, Hon. Fixture Secretary) and up to six other Members. The Committee shall have the power to fill any vacancy that may occur.
5b The Committee shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting in accordance with Rule 18d. If any Member wishes to nominate a Member for election to the Committee, he shall give the Hon. Secretary written notice of the name of such Member not less than seven days before the date of the Annual General Meeting together with written evidence signed by such Member indicating that Member's willingness to serve on the Committee.
6 All those wishing to join the Club shall give their names to the Hon. Secretary and their election shall be at the discretion of the Committee.
7a The Committee shall have power to elect as Honorary Life Members without payment of any further subscription any Member who shall in the opinion of the Committee have rendered outstanding service to the Club, but such election shall not take effect unless the same is confirmed at the Annual General Meeting next following the date of such election.
7b The Club may elect Vice-Presidents from time to time, in recognition of significant service to the Club over a number of years. Nominations for Vice-President must be submitted to the Committee in writing and signed by at least 6 members of the Club. The Committee will consider such nominations and if approved they will be put to the Members for election at the next following Annual General Meeting, the Committee will review the list of Vice-Presidents annually.
8 The Committee may at their discretion elect Honorary Members for such periods as they deem fit.
9 The Committee shall annually appoint a suitable independent person to check the accounts before they are presented to the Annual General Meeting.
10 The Annual Subscription payable by playing members shall be as follows:-
22 years of age and over £65.00 (£55.00*)
18-21 years of age inclusive £40.00 (£30.00*)
Under 18 years of age £20.00 (£10.00*)
* if paid by 1st June 2005 The subscription applicable to the age groups set out above
is governed by the age of the playing member on 31st March previous to the cricket season.
11 Subscriptions of Members shall become due on the 1st January in every year and of New Members on election. Any person who has not paid his subscription by the 1st June shall not thereafter be deemed eligible for selection for any team other than at the discretion of the Committee and on such
conditions as the Committee shall decide.
12 Any member of the Club who shall have paid his or her annual subscription, shall automatically become a member of
the DITCHLING PAVILION CLUB, in accordance with Rules 8 and 10.
13 The Committee shall have power to levy such match fees as they deem necessary which shall be paid to the Captain during the course of the game, any match fees so determined shall be subject to confirmation at the next Annual General Meeting.
14 The Elevens shall be selected by a Selection Committee, consisting of the Captains and Vice-Captains of the
Elevens and three other Members of the Club to be appointed by the Committee.
15 Any Member wish to resign from the club shall give notice to the Honorary Secretary of his intention.

16 The Committee shall have power to request any Member to resign or to expel or otherwise deal with as they think fit any Member who shall offend against the Rules of the Club or whose conduct in the opinion of the Committee renders him unfit for membership of the Club. Provided that no Member shall be expelled without first having the opportunity of appearing before the Committee and answering the
complaints made against him and that no less than two-thirds of the whole of the Committee vote in favour of his expulsion.
Any person required to resign or expelled under this Rule shall forfeit his subscription and any claim upon the property of the Club.
17 The Committee shall have the power to make Bye-Laws for regulating the conduct and affairs of the Club,
provided that the same are not inconsistent with these Rules. Any such new Bye-Laws will be submitted to the members for confirmation at the next Annual General Meeting of the Club.
18 The Annual General Meeting of the Club shall be held in every year not later than the 1st March to transact the
following business:
a To confirm the Minutes of the previous
Annual General Meeting and of any
Special General Meeting held since. b To consider the Annual Report, c To adopt the Annual Accounts, d To elect Officers and the Committee, e To elect Vice-Presidents, f To deal with any special matter which the Committee desire to bring before the Members and to receive suggestions from the Members for consideration by the Committee.
A notice convening the Annual General Meeting shall be sent to Members not less than 14 days before the meeting and shall specify the matters to be discussed.
19 The committee may, on their own authority, or at the written requisition of twelve members of the Club, call a
Special General Meeting of which not less than 7 clear days' notice, specifying the object, time and place of such meeting,
shall be given.
20 At the first Committee Meeting following the Annual General Meeting, the members present shall elect one of
themselves to be Chairman for the year. In case of equality of votes on any proposal, the Chairman shall have a casting or additional vote. At Committee Meetings (except for the purposes of Rule 15 as to expulsion) five shall form a
quorum. At General Meetings twelve shall form a quorum.
21 The Committee may from time to time appoint from among their number such Sub-Committees as they may deem
necessary or expedient with such powers and for such purposes as the Committee may determine. They shall have power to co-opt on the Sub-Committee any Members of the Club who are not Members of the Committee. Such Sub-
Committees shall periodically report their proceedings to the Committee and shall conduct their business in accordance
with the direction of the Committee. The President, Chairman, Honorary Secretary, and Honorary Treasurer shall be ex-officio Members of all Sub-Committees.
22 A copy of these Rules shall be sent to each new Member on first joining the Club.
23 These Rules shall not be altered or added to except at a General Meeting by the vote of two-thirds of the Members
present and voting.
