Welcome to Ditchling cricket club

Dorothy Porter - Child Welfare Officer

Dorothy Porter
Dorothy Porter - DCC Child Welfare Officer

Hi. My name is Dorothy Porter. I have 3 boys playing for Ditchling Colts. My husband, Nigel helps coach the U9s and I help score for the U10s.

In order for DCC to achieve "club mark" the club has to have a recognised and trained Child Welfare Officer ("CWO"). I have completed the training and agreed to take on that role. The club has to comply with the good practice guidelines as laid down by the ECB to safeguard and protect children within the club.

As the CWO I will work with the coaches, the committee and the members to ensure that DCC is a safe and fun place for children to play and improve their cricket.

A 'child' by the way is technically anyone under 18. Another thing that I found interesting is that my role doesn't only concern Ditchling's juniors.

Anyone with any concerns about any child's welfare, be it suspected emotional or physical abuse, bullying or a concern that the child is not enjoying the coaching / games can speak to me in confidence and I will listen and do my very best to help.

Please feel free to call me on 01273 846127 or 07709571238.
